Visiting: Madrid, Toledo, Porto, Baiona, Vigo, Redondela, Pontevedra, Caldas de Reis, Padron and Santiago de Compostela
Day 1, Arrival Madrid: Arrival in Madrid, meet & Greet on arrival by local representative and transfer to hotel of stay for time in Madrid
Day 2, Madrid: This morning we have organised an early access "skip the line" visit to one of the best preserved palaces in Europe - the Royal Palace of Madrid. With preferential access to the Armory Square, Grand Staircase, Apartment of the kings and more. Following our visit to the Palace the day is free to explore what you will of Madrid before meeting up again in the early evening for a Market Bites & Tapas Tour, visiting the local markets trying samples of local specialities and eventually shifting to Tapas Bars and restaurants as we move around the city on this fantastic evening gastronomical tour.
Day 3: Toledo: We leave Madrid this morning for a full day tour to Toledo where we will visit some of Spain's Key Monuments including the Cathedral of Toledo, Los Jeronimos Church. the College of Noble Daughters and a monastery of cloistered nuns where you will have the chance to try some typical Toledan Marzipan. There is free time in the afternoon to wander around a bit freely before returning to Madrid for the night.
Day 4: Madrid, Porto & Baiona: This morning we transfer you to the airport where you hop aboard your flight to Porto. On arrival in Porto you will be met by our local representative and take an easy transfer (of several hours) up the Iberian coastline to Baiona where we will overnight before beginning our Camino walk.
Day 5: Baiona to Vigo: After a restful start to the trip, we start off our Camino Walk with the longest walk of all the ensuing days - a total of 26 kilometers as we follow the coast from Baiona to Nigran and finally onto Vigo where we will overnight. The day will offer fantastic view of the Bat of Vigo, and if the day is exceptionally warm you may want to stop at the blue flag beach Praia America in Nigran for a quick swim enroute. If you have been worrying about the weight of your baggage - don't fret, carry only what you need with you, we have organised to have your main suitcases moved from point to point along the trail so it will be waiting for you daily as you reach the end destination for the day as you move along!
Day 6: Vigo to Redondela: With just 15 kilometers ahead of you today, the walk is relatively short and allows for a milder pace as you continue along the way to Redondela.
Day 7: Redondela to Pontevedra: Today is our last day of walking by the seaside as we journey from Redondela to Pontevedra, if you feel up to it you may want to stop enroute at the village of Arcade to try their famous Oysters. Otherwise with only 20 kilometers on todays schedule there is plenty of time to experience the old township of Pontevedra on arrival in the afternoon.
Day 8: Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis: We have a 21 kilometer walk ahead today as we leave Pontevedra. Today the Camino will take us through Chestnut groves and pine and eucalyptus woods. In the village of Ponte Cabras you can see the rectory of Santa Maria de Alba, at Lombo da Macerina a statue of Saint James points your way onwards with its walking stick, and on your way to Caldas de Reis you will pass through the tiny hamlet of Tivo with its lovely fountain and public baths.
Day 9: Caldas de Reis to Padron: From Calais de Reis we set out on a walk of 25 kilometers, crossing the river Umia to find the hot springs that have given the town its name since Roman Times. Once again we find ourselves walking through forested trails as we climb to the village of Santa Maria before continuing on to todays destination of Padron, where the body of Saint James was said to first reach land on its journey by boat to Compostela.
Day 10: Padron to Santiago de Compostela: today is the last leg of our Camino Walk as we journey from Padron to the site that it is all about "Santiago de Compostela" the final resting place of Saint James.
Day 11: Santiago de Compostela: Today is free for you to rest and recuperate after your Camino Trail Experience and enjoy the UNESCO listed old town of Santiago de Compostela.
Day 12: Santiago de Compostela to Porto: We leave this morning for Porto, where you will have a chance to explore the river front and old town charms of this fantastic Portugese city.
Day 13: Porto: After what should have been a fantastic but exhausting tour, what better way to conclude it then to head into the Douro Region and sample what it is really known for - Wine! Today is spent leisurely exploring the Douro Wine Region with stops in a variety of places including Amarante, Galafura and Pinhao.
Day 14: Porto Departure: This morning is free until your departure to the port, railway station or Airport to either continue your journey or head home.
